Acne Medication

If you have severe acne, you may have certain prescription acne medication by a doctor or dermatologist. Of course, like all other drugs, acne drugs will only work if you follow some simple rules:

* Never missed a dose. Often, acne medications are steroids, or even antibiotics, either oral or topical, and missed doses can cause the entire treatment failed. Make sure you take every dose of your acne medication best – set your alarm, or make a note in your diary if you must.
* Check with your doctor about the possibility of clashes with other drugs. There is always a possibility that your medication for acne may be less effective if we use other types of drugs. Make sure you make a doctor or dermatologist know about other medicines that you are in for whatever reason.
* Maintain good eating habits. Chocolate does not cause acne, we know, but very high GI, refined carbohydrates and sugar can be, new research shows, play a role in causing or exacerbating acne. Do not make your acne medications work harder than necessary – try to eat right! There are lots of online research and information about acne, and the Internet can be a good place to look for information about guidelines for good diet to help your acne medication do its work.
* Improve performance by combining the treatments. For example, if you are given a prescription for oral acne medication, talk, doctor or pharmacist about washing the skin, topical creams or lotions that you can use as well. Most over the counter preparation is safe, and effective enough, and every little bit helps. This will help your acne medicine to work faster. You also can look into natural remedies, such as tea tree oil, or maybe something else, but be sure to run everything past your doctor before trying it.
* Never use acne medication expired. If you are old, or you get it from a friend or relative, perhaps past the due date. Any drug can be dangerous to use after it ends, and your acne medications can make your skin even more severe if it is. This may be tempted to save money, but you’ll probably do more harm than good!
* Remember that acne medication, like other treatments, take time to work. Do not expect immediate or overnight results from your acne medication – to give time for doing his job, and you may be pleased with the results. Patience, as they say, is a virtue, and with little time and patience, you must have a clear skin before you know it.
